The following story appeared in the news this week:
A love story takes a turn for the tragic, when an Oregon man takes his bride-to-be to the famous “proposal rock” to ask her to marry him. Suddenly, a three foot wave appears and drags her off into the ocean. Soon she disappears into the cold darkness and suffers a tragic death.

Pretty sad, right? Well… look again!
He? A disgusting heavily balding 45 year old man, who doesn’t look too upset in the video, and undoubtedly met her on an internet-mail-order-bride-website.
She? 19 years old (now 22) when she began “dating” the middle aged man. Young, poor. Undoubtedly in desperate need of money and an American visa. Only been in America for 2 days. You may call it dating, I call it a very lengthy business arrangement between a prostitute and a gross old guy whom nobody else wants to date.
Tragic? I just call it Karma.
you are the one that is disgusting I do not think that she is looking for american visa by the way its a green card or hes money there dating online for two years if she is just looking for ticket to come to the States she doesn’t need to wait for two years. And I do not call it mail order bride. They dating and chatting online for two years. In its case by way how you call it people here in the States they chat and date online and finally deside to meet and later on got married what you call those couple I guess its a mail order bride.and by the way its not A MAIL ORDER BRIDE SHE WON’T EVEN FIT ON THE MAIL BOX. Think before you open your big mouth. You are just showing your ignorance you do not know what you are saying.
Hi
I have seen the comments posted.
My wife of almost 10 years is from the Philippines. We met as Pen pals.
Let me give some of you a education of the US immigration system.
It is required by US immigration that you meet in person before your future spouse is
Permitted to come to the US as a fiancée or spouse.
It is a long process and takes time.
The age is not the largest age gap I have seen and these marriages do work out.
My wife is 15 years younger then me and we are best friends.
Was there insurance on this girl the answer would be no they were not married yet.
This girl was caught in a ripe tide here are a couple links to ripe tides.

This was nothing but an accident and this man will live with it the rest of his life.

Excuse me? Mail order bride you said?Hello??? The guy didnt just get the girl to come here in America. As the news said theyre been dating for 2 years and known each other for 2 years. Sometimes you have to watch and careful what you are talking about. Even though they have age gap it doesnt really matter. There’s a lot of people in love with big ag egap. ok?
As someone who was on location shortly after the fact, I can tell you that Scott Napper was very careless and negligent in this situation. The waves were ferocious anyway and the weather nasty. Napper was warned by a local shop keeper that it was dangerous to go out there and there were signs posted that warned of sneaker waves and the dangers and he chose to ignore them all. The more facts are coming in the more we are seeing that this is not just a accident, but a careless disregard for the life and safety of this young woman. Mr. Nappers post incident actions only confirm his irresponsiblity and disregard for anyone but himself and his self-centered interest. He ALONE is accountable for this devastating tragedy.
As an American who has become a friend of the Alforque family, and who communicates with them daily, we have created a website to help people to remember Leafil Alforque and to provide regular updates on this story. You can go to that site at http://remember-leafil-alforque.co.cc/ We suggest that you send messages of encouragement to the family using one of the links on that site.
Hi seacaptdon,
Thanks for your response, it was very interesting to read your comments, and I will check out your website!
Your comments are getting you a lot of attention, however I think you are making alot of baseless assumptions here. How do you know she was a mail order bride? Because she is a filipina? and for that you judge her a prostitute? Many many people have been meeting online for many years now, since the mid 1990’s in fact, so I dont know where the mail-order bride thing came from. Was he a mail order husband? He met her online, didnt he? You are showing yourself as RACIALLY PREJUDICED. I am white, married to an asian, and I can clearly see your bias. You are clearly belittling the fact that these two people could have loved one another, why?
I am however bery cautiously listening to the letter of seacaptdon. After seeing the video on utube of the waves – how could anyone in their right mind take himself never mind his 100 pound wife to be into that kind of weather? This man clealry wrecklessly endanged her and he did not take the responsibvility he had of keeping her safe very seriously. Instead he chose to be blinded by a romantic ideal he had and SHE paid the price with her life and HER FAMILY pays the price with their grief.
This whole stry seems strange to me I hope he doesnt turn out to be another Scott Peterson, Because then these very lovely and nice and sweet filipina women will not want to have anything to do with AMerican men.
This guy just doesnt look sorry when he tells the story, he looks like he has no conscience. I think he just didnt help her, but I wasnt there. Only God can judge in the afterlife. But we do have police here dont we? Why did they rule out fowl play?
I’ll admit that the interview video seems strange and perhaps there is more going on than meets the eye but it’s not that unusual for women (and especially foreign women) to get into relationships with “ugly” men.
You seem to enjoy bashing this guy and kicking him when he’s down a little too much.
Karma’s a bitch and we all get old. When you are 45, look in the mirror and see how disgusting you are.
Wow, what an insensitive prick.
Your comments are presumptuous and hateful.
